A completed visit is simultaneously captured source data, an enrollment event, a receivable, and a stipend accrual, because it is one record, not four.
Compliance is load-bearing in that design. Append-only audit trails, record versioning, reason-for-change, and Part 11 signatures live in the write path of every regulated record, and the automated tests that prove those behaviors double as validation evidence delivered with every release.
